Asus Eee PC 1000 is on the loose in Australia

Ok, so the Asus eee pc 1000 is on the loose in Australia. Evidence: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/

I don't think there's much stock left, but it's not confirmed yet if it's the windows version (1000H) or the linux version (1000) yet. I'm heading over to a store at lunch time to check it out.

JB's price is $698 (although I heard it rumoured for $649 at JB).

Check out the specs for the 901, 1000 and 1000H over here at Engadget

EEE PC 900 Australian Prices

http://apcmag.com/windowsbased_eeepc_cheaper_than_linux_one.htm

So APC went to the Sydney launch event for the eee pc 900. It's not launched yet, but apc reported that the pricing for RRP was announced. The Windows XP version is $599 AUD and the Linux version is $649 AUD.

This outrages me. Now, for those who don't know, the XP version has an SSD of only 12GB and the Linux version has 20GB. The reason to this was so that the XP version could be sold at the same price...... true, for everywhere else but Australia!! Even New Zealand is selling the eee pc 900 xp and linux versions for the same price according to their Dick Smith Electronics online shop. Why, oh why, oh why does Australia always get the raw end of the deal??? I see it happen so often in the games industry.

Now, the Australian release date has also been rather lofty. Earlier I had posted saying that it looked like it would be May 18th, according to APC's report the release date will be the end of May. So just a little bit more waiting to go.

*twiddles thumbs in the meantime*

EEE PC 900 Australian Release Date

So I'm in love with the Asus EEE PC. I don't have one though, so I've been hanging out for a release date of the EEE PC 900. According to this forum the Australian release will be in May. Now, I don't know how true this is because he doesn't reference anything!!!!! But I will be hoping that it is out in May. But on the other hand, it won't have the Atom processor which will increase the battery life of the laptop. In Asus' rush to get the new 8.9" laptop to market to beat the rest of competitors, the processor is still the same as the one from the 701. According to techradar the Atom will probably show it's head around June. Problem is that the Atom may not be a faster processor!! What should I do? Wait for the Atom processor or grab the eee pc 900 as soon as it hits shelves? I'm leaning towards the Atom, what do you think I should do?
